Tiffany Arrowroot

This is my interpretation of Tiffanys 20 inch Arrowroot lamp. It is constructed using glass entirely from the Youghiogheny Glass Company. The leaves of the arrowroot plant are done in ripple glass to give them a more realistic appearance. It was built on a 20 inch sectional cone mold from The H. L. Worden Company. The pottery base with applied lizards and a beautiful Grueby type green glaze was purchased at auction. It is signed and dated by Gina Howell a very talented potter from Huntington, WV. (glpottery@aol.com). The lampbase hardware was constructed using a 6 inch lamp cap, 1 inch copper tubing, a 1 lb lamp weight and a 2 light cluster. The 6 inch lamp cap was reinforced using 1/2" brass strips soldered onto the bottom of it. The strips were bent so that it snapped into the pottery base. The cord comes through the lamp cap so that the lamp base would not have to be drilled through. The cord is vintage twisted cloth with a 2 prong plug. The whole lamp sits on a 2 inch tall rosewood base which gives the lamp an overall height of 25".

This lamp appears in the "LAMPS FOR ALL SEASONS" 2010 calendar
